Dr. Natalie Strynadka is a Distinguished Professor and researcher in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia and a member of the Centre for Blood Research (CBR). She is known for her research in the fields of antibiotic resistance and biophysics. Dr. Strynadka recently received the honour of being chosen as the 2018 Fellow of the Biophysical Society of Canada (BSC). She will receive this award at the 4^th Annual Biophysical Society meeting, held on May 22-25, 2018 in Vancouver, BC.

The Biophysical Society of Canada was founded in 1985 and works to support biophysics research in Canada through a variety of awards, programs, and meetings. Annually, the BSC recognizes researchers who have made extraordinary research contributions as Fellows of the Biophysical Society. To gather exceptional candidates for this award, the BSC asks for nominations in the fields of biophysics and biophysical chemistry. The selected Fellow then presents the National Lecture at the Annual meeting of the BSC.

In 2010, Dr. Strynadka received a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Antibiotic Discovery and has been recognized through numerous academic and other awards and distinctions for her outstanding work. In 2012, Dr. Strynadka received the prestigious Senior International Research Scholar award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She has also been honoured as a Medical Research Council of Canada Scholar, a Canadian Institute of Health Research Scientist, a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Senior Scholar, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2015.
