Science @ Home – Purple Cabbage Chemistry presented by the Brown Lab

A version of this story was originally posted on the Cassie+Friends website.

This Spring with Cassie+Friends, the Brown Lab at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute had planned to host a “Day in the Lab” event for kids and families to explore science and learn where rheumatic disease research is being conducted. Since they had to cancel the event due to Covid-19, they are a bringing a science experiment to you! Cassie+Friends has been working closely with The Brown Lab and are SO excited for you to try this fun science activity with one of the researchers, Sarah Bowers.

A message from the Brown Lab:
In partnership with Cassie + Friends, we are excited to be bringing you ‘Science at Home – Purple Cabbage Chemistry’. This is a fun science activity designed to be completed using items that you may already have around the house! Before getting started, kids and adults should review the supply list and instructions here. Then, you can follow along with us at home using this video below!

Stay tuned for some more science fun with Cassie + Friends and our lab this summer, including an interview as part of #Cassie_Talks to explain more about our research into safer and more effective treatment strategies for kids with rheumatic conditions.  You can also check out our COVID-19 information including Coronaviruses: The Basics and Testing for COVID-19 Testing: FAQs Explained by the Brown Lab.

Cassie+Friends would love to see pictures of your experiments! You can share them on Cassie + Friends social media by tagging @cafsociety on Instagram, or Cassie and Friends on Facebook.
