Dr. Dana Devine wins the CSTM ORTHO award

ddevine-225x300Dr. Dana Devine won the the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine (CSTM) ORTHO award for her longstanding research career in blood products, transfusion medicine, platelet biology, complement biochemistry, and coagulation. She was recognized at the CSTM conference in Winnepeg, held on May 21-25, 2015.

CSTM is a multidisciplinary society which promotes and supports best practice in Transfusion Medicine in Canada through education, communication and partnerships and the ORTHO national award recognizes achievements of the individual who has provided a major service or innovation in transfusion medicine.

Dana Devine is currently the Chief Medical & Scientific Officer at Canadian Blood Services. She is also a founding member of the Centre for Blood Research (CBR) and a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UBC. In service to the transfusion community, Dr. Devine is a member of numerous advisory committees and boards including the American Red Cross, Blood Systems Research Institute, Bloodworks Northwest and the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. Her current research is funded by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, CBS, CIHR and NSER C.
