Robert E.W. Hancock receives the 2012 Prix Galien Research Award

We congratulate longtime CBR member, Dr. Robert (Bob) Hancock, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at UBC and a holder of a Canada Research Chair in Microbiology, for receiving the 2012 Prix Galien Research Award.

The Prix Galien, often referred to as the Nobel Prize in pharmaceutical sciences, is the most prestigious award in the field of Canadian pharmaceutical research and innovation.

Bob  has made and continues to make major contributions in the area of microbiology and antimicrobial agents and has shown scientific leadership on many fronts. He has founded several scientific and biotechnology organizations and companies, and made breakthrough discoveries in selectively modulating immunity and suppressing harmful inflammation while retaining protective immunity. His work is indeed, innovative and in the words of Prix Galien Canada, has “the potential to revolutionize human healthcare”. We look forward to his continued success!
