Interested in discovering how social media can be used as a tool to advance both science and your career? The Centre for Blood Research in collaboration with STEMCELL Technologies presents “#SciComm: More Than Just a Hashtag”, a workshop designed to explore how social media can be used not just as a tool for science communication, but to foster collaboration, broaden the reach of your research, troubleshoot experiments, and even make you a stronger candidate for funding.

FACILITATORS 


Leanna Bedell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from the University of Victoria, and shortly afterwards, she joined the Science Newsletter team at STEMCELL Technologies. Two years later, she’s now the Senior Social Media Specialist where she works to optimize social media feeds and communicate science.


Kristina McBurney received her PhD in  Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the  University of British Columbia, where she  studied under the supervision of Dr. LeAnn Howe. Kristina is now the Manager of Scientific Communications and Communities at STEMCELL Technologies, where she manages the Stem Cell Podcast and Science in the City programs.
